Home composting is a great hobby.I have a khamba at home. If anyone is intrested to know how to make your own manure, .please vist my home .

Reminding all that one of our members posted a question on mealy  bugs ....

A solution from our side:

Prune out light infestations from the plant and throw them away.Scrap off the bugs by hand and gentlly  dab the insect affected places with a cloth-tip dipped in soap solution and neem oil. Do not over water or overfertilize – mealybugs are attracted to plants with high nitrogen levels and soft growth.
Heavy clustering of mealy bugs can be seen on lower surface of leaves giving the appearance of a thick mat with waxy secretion.

The honeydew excreted by the mealy bugs attracts ants which help in spreading of the pest .Spray Bio Agni or Panchagavyam solution.

Keep a watch for the next few days. You can also sprinkle turmeric solution now and then.

If anyone has a better answer please share it with us.

Meanwhile June is the time to sow all gourds and vegetables.

Hi,
Greetings from garden Group.
Today Mr.Anantha Krishnan , a Garden Group Member suggested a solution for Mealy Bugs. He said that you can use ant killer powder mixed in water and spray  on them to get rid of it.My papayas are now infected with mealy bugs .i will try it and post the photos.

I tried a organic pesticide called Neemraz. I dipped a cobweb stick in the water diluted solution  and brushed the papayas with it. The mealy bugs are gone. I poured the water diluted neemraz over the plant and drived away all ants around it. I am doing this regularly.Seems to give results

I also used *NeemRaz *using sprayer on my Hibiscus Plant which was severely affected with white powdery substance in the tips of the branches. The
leaves used to fall and some became yellowish, due to this condition..  I trimmed all the branches that were affected and sprayed the neemRaz liquid
after necessary dilution, for 3 days at a stretch. Can see visible improvements and new leaves started sprouting. Also mixed neem pellets as
manure for the soil.
