GAPP updates - Important!

Hi all,

Several updates for you!

 

  1. Next parent meeting reminder: Wed, Sept 18th @ 7pm at RHS in the student center (same location as the last RHS meeting). $400 payment due at or before the meeting. Checks to RHS German Exchange or paypal transfers to rhsgerma...@gmail.com   No cash, please! Bring calendars and please plan on arriving a little early to check in. Students are encouraged to attend.
  2. Welcome Dinner: The welcome dinner will take place on the evening of Wed, October 23rd. This event is required for the American students and the German exchange students. Families are encouraged to attend. More information about the event will be provided at the next meeting.
  3. Chaperones: We’ve got most of the dates set and will be looking for chaperones for the following events/dates. Ideally we have one parent from each school, but we need 2 parents for all events. If you’re interested and want to claim an event (or 2!) before the meeting, please respond to me. More information will be provided, including departure times.
    1. U of M Tour: Thurs, Oct 24th (Ideally someone who knows their way around the campus, or even has a son/daughter that goes there who might want to help!; Note that this day is also the CIS German field day at the U, so Sulli/Mitchell will be on the bus, but not available for the tour itself)
    2. Widji: Fri, Oct 25th through Sun, Oct 27th: I believe we have Lori Snyder signed up. If you’re a female and interested in going, please let me know. We have sufficient male chaperones, but may need 1 more female.
    3. Mall of America: Fri, Nov 1 – Looking for 2-4 people. Note that these parents must come back on the bus in the afternoon. They may rejoin their students after that. You are not following students around for the day – you may do your own thing. But you must be willing to give students your cell phone number for emergencies.
    4. Mpls/St Paul bus tour: Tues, Nov 5 (election day!)
  4. Professional sports game possibility (as a group, but optional outing):
    1. Wolves: There’s a home game on Monday, November 4th. That is the same day as all students at RHS for the day and for the soccer game in the dome. Possibility of carpooling directly from the soccer game.
    2. Vikings: Thurs, Oct 24th Would make for a very busy, potentially overwhelming first week.
    3. Gopher hockey: Fri, Nov 1 Potential to have the bus bring people from the MOA to the arena.
  5. Good bye gathering: Due to the time frame the Germans are leaving, a Final Frühstück doesn’t work out. If someone is willing/interested in hosting something low key (pizza, etc) for the students to have one last gathering on Wed, Nov 6th in the evening, that would be great! We are happy to help arrange to gather funds from those interested in attending.

  7. If you are thinking of meeting your student in Germany, please plan on meeting me after the parent meeting to talk through a few things.

  9. Munich: We’ve reserved the youth hostel and will be putting our deposit in soon.

Hallo Frau Sulli,

If I was to pay pal you the $400, I just send it to that rhsgerma...@gmail.com email address correct? Is there anything else special that I need to do?
