Final Presentations: *Please do not be late to your presentation on Saturday. Plan accordingly and allow yourself sufficient time to get to Anderson*
·
GAP Final Presentation Schedule (Dec. 7) -
Presentations are 15-minutes, followed by a 20-minute Q&A period. Students are not required to attend the paired team presentations; however, you should take advantage
of this opportunity to observe several of your classmate’s presentations. - Breakfast will be available at Alumni Plaza beginning at 7:00am and the program begins at 8:30am with a brief Welcoming Ceremony in Korn Hall. The program ends at 5:30pm with a Closing Ceremony, followed by a Cocktail Reception at the UCLA Carnesale Commons, Palisades Ballroom. · Dress Code for the event is business attire. Wear your Anderson name badge. · GAP Travel Expense Credits – If you have not already submitted your GAP Expense credit form and corresponding receipts. Please note that you will be able to turn them in on December 7 at the registration desk. Make sure your FS credit form is signed and that you provide original receipts (no photocopies/scanned receipts). · Attendance - The attendance module will be available all day for students to sign-in before or after their presentation. It is still required to submit your attendance using a UCLA Wi-Fi network; otherwise you may be marked absent. Presentation Room Information: · Backup your Presentation File - Load your presentation file on the podium computer before your presentation starts and make sure it projects properly. We want you to be 100% sure you’ll be able to start your presentation on time, also have a backup copy of the presentation available. Do not shut down the computer or the projector and do not try to use your personal laptop to give the presentation as this will create problems and will interfere with the recordings. - Podium Controls - If you are going to use a USB flash drive please plug it directly into the computer tower. Take a second to review the podium control images on posted on CCLE as reference. - Introduce your Executives and Faculty Advisor - At the beginning of your presentation, after you have introduced your team members, remember to introduce your Faculty Advisor and executives who are in the audience (executive name and titles only, please). · Immediately After your Presentation and Q&A Period - Your faculty advisor will present your company executives a certificate of GAP participation and a small gift. We are on a very tight 10-minute interim period before the next presentation starts, it is important to quickly exit the classroom with your company executives to allow the next presenter to set up. · Give Executives 2 Printed Copies of your Final Business Plan - These will be available to your team in your assigned presentation classroom just before you make your presentation. Please ask the GAP staff member/timer in your classroom for your plans and personally give them to your company. - After each presentation, judges are asked to leave their copy of the business plan on the desk. Our staff will pick up the plans and they will be available at the table in front of Korn Hall for you to pick up later in the day. · Make COLOR Copies of your Presentation Slides - Before the start of your presentation, give color copies of your final presentation slides to your judges and faculty advisor. Make a few extra copies in case additional faculty members attend your presentation. The slides should be printed two to a page. GAP students have access to the FEMBA business center computers to print final presentation slides in color. The business center will be busy on Saturday, so plan to print your slides ahead of time. Do not wait until the last minute! - In addition, teams presenting in Korn Hall should print their backup slides to give to the judges. The screen in Korn is often difficult for judges to view since they will sit at an angle on the right side of the stage. Teams presenting in the other classrooms may choose to provide these backup slides, but it is not required. · Final presentations will be filmed. See the attached Presentation Filming Guidelines. Judge Information: · Judges – Our office will provide the class with an electronic version of the final presentation program by tomorrow (Tuesday). The program will include the bios for the judges who will observe your presentation. Do not contact the judges before your presentation. - Your advisor will briefly introduce the judges immediately prior to the start of your presentation. - Only judges are allowed to ask questions and make comments during the Q&A period. Remind your executives that they may not ask any questions, answer any questions or make any comments during the presentation or the Q&A period. · Introduce Your Executives to Judges - After your presentation and Q&A session ends, quickly step outside the classroom and introduce your executives to the judges and invite all of them to the hospitality tent on Alumni Plaza to sit down, enjoy the refreshments and continue discussions. Executives enjoy this type of interaction and many good things have resulted from students making this extra effort. Be aware that some judges may not have time to meet right then as they may have to rush off to another presentation. Additional Event Notes: · Hospitality Tent – Breakfast, lunch, refreshments and a cappuccino cart will be available throughout the day in the hospitality tent located on Alumni Plaza. We ask that you use the hospitality tent to hold meetings with your executives and/or judges. Please keep conversations to a minimum inside the Anderson complex as presentations and final exams will be in progress all day. - Company executives are welcome to view any of the presentations throughout the day. · Student Guests/Significant Others - Due to space limitations spouses and significant others are not permitted to attend the final presentations at Anderson or the cocktail reception at UCLA’s Carnesale Commons, Palisades Ballroom. Presentations will be video recorded, so you will later be able to share the video with your significant others. · Company Executive Interviews - Barbara Lewis, a former newspaper reporter for the Wall St. Journal and Los Angeles Times, will conduct interviews with our GAP executives on Saturday. She and her colleague, Kelsey Kado, will attempt to interview at least one executive from each company. Each team is to appoint one student who will be responsible to introduce the senior executive of your company attending the final presentation to Barbara Lewis or her colleague. The written executive comments are a major part of selling GAP to future companies. Barbara Lewis will be introducing herself to your executives and asking them to talk about their GAP experience for about 10-15 minutes. These comments are documented and emailed to the executives for their approval prior to being used by GAP. Barbara will be set-up near the hospitality tent entrance. Look for the two tables with yellow linens and the table cards with their names. · GAP Photographer - Since this is a major Anderson event, we will have a photographer taking pictures during the day and evening. The photographer will try to capture images of you, your company executives, professors, judges, etc. Take advantage of this complimentary opportunity. The digital photos will be available on the web for you to download. The URL will be sent at a later date. The photographs will be made available to enrolled GAP students, partners, company executives and guests. Photographs may also be used for GAP program marketing purposes and may appear on printed material or on theGAP website. · Cocktail Reception at UCLA’s Carnesale Commons, Palisades Ballroom - You're invited to join our cocktail reception on Saturday evening immediately after the Closing Ceremony in Korn Hall. The reception will take place at UCLA’s Carnesale Commons, Palisades Ballroom which is a short 5-10 minute walk from Anderson. There will be a trolley available to transport you to the reception and back to Anderson at the end of the night. Limited vehicle parking will also be available at the Sunset Village parking lot, which is the closest parking structure to the reception venue. You may use your lot 4 annual parking passes to transfer to the Sunset Village lot after 4:30pm. Alternatively, students have the option to walk to the reception, which is very close to the Anderson school.
- A Trolley will pick up guests in front of the Collins Center starting at 6:15pm and will continue to circulate until the end of the event.
- Company Executives and judges have also been invited to attend the reception.
· Road Closures Due to Freeway Construction Project - Due to the ongoing freeway construction project some nearby streets and on/off ramps to the 405 freeway may be closed at night. These closures may impact your drive, please plan ahead and check road conditions before you get in your car. http://www.dot.ca.gov/cgi-bin/roads.cgi http://www.metro.net/projects/I-405/ On behalf of the Global Access Program faculty and staff, we wish all of you a successful day on Saturday. We look forward to seeing some excellent
presentations that will provide real value to our companies. |
