Dear GAP Company Executives:
Welcome back to UCLA Anderson for the final presentation of your strategic business plan. Below you will find specific details regarding the event.
Attachments: Map & Parking Information, General Program Agenda, Presentation Schedule
Note: This email is being sent to our executive guests with a copy to our partners, students, fellows, faculty and staff.
1) Registration:
-------------------------------------------------------
The registration area will be located in front of Korn Convocation Hall. When you check-in on Saturday, December 7 you'll be given a program describing the presentation schedule for the day. You're welcome to attend any of the presentations. When you're not attending presentations, take time to enjoy the hospitality tent on the Alumni Plaza outside of Korn Convocation Hall. This is where breakfast, lunch and refreshments will be served.
2) Welcome in Korn Hall
-------------------------------------------------------
Before beginning the day’s presentation, I will give a short welcome address in Korn Hall from 8:30-8:45am.
3) Business Plan Presentations, Begin at 9:00am:
-------------------------------------------------
The student presentations will be 15 minutes followed by a 20 minute question & answer period. Each presentation will have several judges, who after the presentation will ask questions for the students to answer. No one in the audience is allowed to make any comments, ask questions or answer any questions during the entire 35 minute period. After the presentation and questioning is finished, executives are encouraged to introduce themselves to the judges for further discussion outside in the hospitality tent.
4) Judges:
------------------
The final presentations program document will contain the resumes of the 75 judges viewing the presentations. While GAP does not make formal introductions of individual judges to company executives, there are many opportunities to meet each other informally in the hospitality tent and at the final cocktail reception that evening, which will be held at UCLA’s Carnesale Commons, Palisades Ballroom.
5) Company Guests:
-------------------------------
Company guests that have already registered must also check-in at the registration area in front of Korn Convocation Hall and will be required to sign a Non-Disclosure Agreement prior to viewing any presentation. Guests will receive informational material and a nametag identifying them as a guest of your company. All company guests are welcome to join us for breakfast and lunch on Alumni Plaza and will be given access to view your own company presentation. Guests and company executives are not permitted to ask questions or make any comments during the presentation.
6) Barbara Lewis Will Interview Company Executives:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
As part of our quality assurance program, each year we ask Barbara Lewis, a former newspaper reporter for the Wall St. Journal and Los Angeles Times, to conduct personal interviews with our GAP executives after the final presentations. She will have a table in the hospitality tent and will attempt to interview at least one executive from each company. These interviews will not be scheduled; either she or her associate will approach you during the day and introduce themselves. Each private interview takes about 15-20 minutes. After the interview, she will email you a written summary of your quote for your approval before the GAP faculty sees your comments. After you approve, the quotes may be published on our public website. If you need to leave campus early please introduce yourself to her in the hospitality tent prior to leaving.
7) Guest Parking:
-------------------------
Complimentary guest parking will be available in parking lot 4, at the intersection of Sunset Blvd and Westwood Plaza. Please let the kiosk attendant know that you are with the “Global Access Program (GAP)” in order to obtain your courtesy parking permit. Look for signs at the exits from the parking lot which will direct you to Anderson. The parking reservation is good for the entire day and "in and out" privileges are provided. Please make sure you display the parking pass at all times to avoid a parking citation and keep the gate entry card if you plan to go in and out of the structure during the day.
8) Attire:
------------
Students, faculty and staff will be dressed in business attire, which is coat and tie for men and professional business attire for women.
9) All Final Presentations and Q&A Sessions will be Video Recorded:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Every presentation and question & answer period will be recorded using equipment that embeds the slide image from the screen into the video of the speaker. The final presentation and Q&A session video will be available to you electronically at a later date.
10) GAP Photographer:
------------------------------------
Since this is a major Anderson event, we will have a photographer taking pictures during the day and evening. The photographer will try to capture images of you, your team, professors, judges, etc. throughout the day. Take advantage of this complimentary opportunity. The digital photos will be available on the website for you to download copies as a memento of participating in GAP. The URL will be sent to you at a later date.
These photographs will be made available to enrolled GAP students, international sponsoring partners, company executives and guests. Photographs may also be used for GAP program marketing purposes and may appear on printed material and on the www.gap.ucla.edu website.
11) Cocktail Reception at UCLA Carnesale Commons, Palisades Ballroom:
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
You're invited to join our cocktail reception on Saturday evening immediately after the Closing Ceremony. The reception will take place at UCLA’s Carnesale Commons, which is a short 10 minute walk from Anderson. There will be a trolley bus available to transport you to the reception location and back to Anderson at the end of the night. Individual vehicle parking will also be available at the Sunset Village parking lot, which is the closest parking structure to the reception venue. Guests may use their lot 4 courtesy parking passes to transfer to the Sunset Village lot.
13) Securities Legal Statement:
-----------------------------------------------
The following statement is presented to all executives, students, judges and sponsors in order to make certain there is complete clarity that the GAP program presentations and plans are not in any manner selling securities of any of our GAP companies.
