I'm new to Joomla CMS and Gantry Templates, however have managed to create a site using the Gantry Template i.e. www.acetel-me.com

The issue I'm facing is that when I upload my company logo on the Style Sheet under Template Manager the Logo does not display, instead I get a large empty space. The Gantry Logo seems to work OK, but any of my logo in JPG,PNG,GIF,BMP format does not display.

I'm using the latest Gantry Template i.e. v4.1.5

Please assist...

Thanks

Rauf

Hi Rauf, and welcome,

Many if not most of us skip using the template manager and Gantry's built in logo uploaded if need be. This is not to say it doesn't work fine, in most cases it does, and not sure why you are having issues.

That being said, you may want to try turning that feature off and inserting a Custom HTML module in the desired location instead. Then add the code

<div style="width: 100%;">
<img src="images/your image.jpg" class="rt-image" alt="" title="" width="100%" height="auto" />
</div>

Change the path to your image and if need be change the div's width % but this should give you a good idea and still be responsive. You may also remove the width and height out of the image depending on your situation. The class tag in the image does the same thing or should if it's a recent gantry template. Put in your alt and title as usual.

One last note... You will want to use the template manager, inside your template, in the layout tab to set how much space that location gets if you are sharing that module location with others in it's row. Meaning you set this logo custom HTML module in the header-a position and also put the menu in header-b position. Setting your slider for 2 modules and giving the proper space makes it all work well.

If you will sit the logo by itself with no other modules is where you may want to change the div % to a lower number. Keep in mind in this case that as the device gets smaller you may have your logo to small and need to set a specific class in that div and call it out in your gantry-custom.css and set it to hold your width percentage and change it per screen size.

Best,

Grant

Thank Grant,

Really appreciate your prompt and detailed response.

I managed to find the cause of the display issue, it was the fact that the logo filename had whitespaces, hence the template could not pick up the image.

The issue now is that the size of the logo image is huge, hence how can I change the size and where i.e. which file.

Thanks

Regards,
Rauf

Well it's always best to include a link to the site. Are you using the Gantry built in logo chooser or a custom HTML module? If it's the former you will want to manually upload a smaller image. If you are using a custom HTML module you can use my example from before and reduce the 100% to a smaller number. You can also decide to give it an absolute width if you decide that works better for you. At this point it is simple HTML. If you don't know that you may want to brush up on it.

Hi Grant,

Kindly assist me with this issue i am experiencing, i changed the default logo on my gantry template to a new image which i uploaded to the .../templates/mytheme/logos/ folder, since then the new image does not show on the page, and i have since tried to revert to the former image, but it doesn't work either, sooo my site has remained "logoless" for a while now, i have disabled caching and tried all i know, but it just doesn't work :(
I would immensely appreciate any help.

Hi :)
As with the other questions on this thread;

1.  switch off the default "logo" in the web-based back-end for the template style.  From the web-based joomla back-end click on
Extensions - "Template Manager" - Templates
and then click on the name of the gantry-template you are using.  From there click on the "Styles" 'tab'/button to get into the default logo

2.  set-up a new module to hold your new logo/header/banner.  Then use the "Layouts" 'tab'/button to create a position in either "Top Positions" or "Header Positions"

3.  go back into the joomla web-based back-end to edit/create the new logo/header/banner module to position it in the position  you just set-up in step 2 above.

In WebTread's answer he/she suggested creating a custom-html module for this but i am guessing it can be done the same way using a "single article" type module, or maybe other types of module = whichever seems to best suit what you need.  I used a custom html module too because it just seemed easier at the time.
Regards from
Tom :)
