I know this forum is for Gantry but I thought I'd ask to get the opinion of all of you here since I value it so much in light of what's happened to my site recently.  What tool / plugin do you use to help prevent hacking on your site or something to increase the security that works seamlessly with Gantry.

regards,

Michael

Hi,

there are some plugins as jhackquards, or component like admin tools from akeeba.
you can install also crawlprotect or crawltrack at your site's root

Aside from what Serge suggested and this may be a no brainer but first step is always create a backup when you've done any significant amount of work on your site. Many of us use Akeeba Backup. Once you have done the backup. Pull it off the server so you have it stored locally on your machine and better yet a second copy stored elsewhere. In the cloud and or a portable flash drive for extra protection.

Thank you Serge,  I've checked those options out.  Do you know if it's ok to have both Akeeba Admin Tools and jhackguard installed?  They both look good and both look like they help by doing different things.

regards,

Michael

Hey Grant,

Thanks for mentioning it.  I had actually just started using Akeeba backup and had a local copy and another copy in a separate storage folder on my host server.  I'm going to look at setting it so it stores it to a cloud service.  With whatever the attacker did I wasn't able to use the Akeeba control panel to restore the site but I was able to restore it using Akeeba kickstart.

thanks again for the suggestions guys!
