Are you a Windows user looking for a highly-rated, multi-use snipping tool as an alternative to Windows Snipping Tool? Fortunately for you, there are numerous apps like Snipping Tool available with a variety of special features and services. You can find snipping tools for Windows with cloud storage, image editing tools, screen recording capabilities, and integrations with other productivity and messaging apps. Use our guide below to find the right Windows snipping tool for your needs and budget.

Windows Snipping Tool is free snipping tool software that lets you take screenshots, edit your snips, and share them with others. You can find Snipping Tool through your Windows search bar or by adding it as a shortcut. You can take rectangle snips of a specific part of your screen, a single window, or your full screen, or you can take free-form snips that can be of any shape. Screen capture can also be delayed by up to 10 seconds so you can switch to the screen you want to snip.

To use Windows Snipping Tool, simply drag your cursor over the portion of your screen that you wish to capture. Once you make your snip, the tool opens an editing screen where you can use a pen, highlighter, cropping tool, ruler, or protractor. If you have a touchscreen device, you can enable touch writing with your finger or pen. Your snip can then be saved to your computer, shared with a nearby device, or sent via email or another app.

Microsoft introduced a snip tool for Windows 10 called Snip & Sketch. Snip & Sketch contains all the same features as the new Windows Snipping Tool on Windows 11. However, Snip & Sketch is not on Windows 11. If you have Windows 10, then you can use either Snipping Tool or Snip & Sketch. Keep in mind that Windows 10 Snipping Tool does not have as many features as Windows 11 Snipping Tool or Snip & Sketch.

Overall, Windows Snipping Tool and Snip & Sketch are good free snipping tools for users who make the occasional snip for personal reasons but poor Windows snipping tools for businesses that rely on quick and efficient screenshot editing, storage, security, and sharing to communicate effectively with customers and team members.

Droplr is a highly-rated, low-priced snipping tool for Windows that also includes screen recording and GIF creation. Using the Windows snipping tool, it is not possible (or is it?) to get a screenshot of a drop down menu. As soon as you select "New" in the snipping tool's toolbar, then the drop down menu disappears.

The delay feature only works for the Windows 10+ version of the snipping because it wasn't introduced until then. For earlier versions, you need to use the cntrl-PrtScr option. Open up the Snipping Tool. If it's active to create a new snip, click cancel or hit the ESC key. Open up the desired menu and press cntl-PrtScr, this will reactivate the Snipping tool but leave the menu open. Then you can select what kind snip you want to make (free form, rectangular, window or full screen) and grab your screenshot.

What happened to you, happened to me, but here is the best, the oldest way of all: PrintScreen button (normally top/right area of an standard keyboard) I hope you still have it in your keyboard. Most new nb's keyboard don't have it. Most standard Desktop's keyboard still have it.If so, when you press it, it got a screenshot of 1,2,3 as many monitors you have, a whole full screen, the you use Paint (or called Paintbrush) and you select what you want. Now, if you don't have that type of keyboard, then you need a special software probably someone else mentioned already. Good luck!

You have an option of Delay Snip, set the timer to 4 second.Once You Click New, the timer will be ON and you will have time to open the exact screen with the Drop down eventually the screen will freeze and you'll have to select the area to have your screenshot.

I think easy way would be copy that image Ctrl + C on snipping tool after scissors and paste it into MS word... click on image and go to "format tab" and then select shadow option. it will deal with shadow and there are also many other features

I didn't know there was a way to take screenshots with WINDOWS + Volume Down. On my keyboard, I took a screenshot with WINDOWS + "Print Screen." If your laptop, press two buttons simultaneously: "Print Screen" and "Fn." If you want to take a screenshot of only the active window (program), press "Alt" and "Print. Screen" on the computer; "Alt," "Print Screen," and "Fn" on the laptop. The screenshot will be saved to the clipboard. And on Chrome, I put myself on a printscreen chrome extension app. It's a great extension. It has Captured individual web elements and even created Gifs.

The Snipping tool's New button is not working for new screenshots. However, it works for new recording. I am on the Windows 11 insider preview, build 25905. It has happened before and I was able to fix it by changing some files associated with the app but could not fix it this time. Does anyone have any suggestions or ideas that can help me fix it? thanks in advance

Press and hold Windows + Shift + S keys simultaneously until it becomes a dim overlay on your screen and a small toolbar at the top. You can choose one of the four options from the toolbar rectangular, freeform, window snip, or full screen. Now, click and drag your mouse to select the area you want to capture.

Hello Salman!
I wanted to express my gratitude for your valuable contribution. Your input has been incredibly helpful. However, I would like to clarify that the issue I am facing is specific to the 'New' button functionality in the snipping app. This button is only visible when manually opening the snipping app. When accessing the snipping app, various features are available, such as screen snipping, and screen recording. The problem arises when attempting to take a snip using the 'New' button. Unfortunately, the 'New' button is unresponsive on my system, rendering it impossible to capture screen with the 'New' button. Although I am aware of the shortcut method, my concern lies solely with the malfunctioning 'New' button when using the snipping tool.

Thank you once again for your assistance!
