Trade Talk

MACRC Director of Business Development Tony Janowski and union representatives recently attended MOSEIA's Missouri Solar Summit. This event provided a unique opportunity to connect with contractors and developers, discuss industry trends, and explore innovative solutions to accelerate the adoption of renewable energy sources. Our work with contracting partners in the solar industry continues to pay dividends.

- School Campus -

Union Carpenters are building a massive, new project for Kansas City Public Schools in KCMO. The Martin Luther King Jr. Empowerment Campus will house three buildings thanks to our highly skilled members. Signatory contractors DH Pace, PCI and Epic are all on site at this JE Dunn job. This is the first piece of construction paid for by the district's successful $474 million bond approved by voters earlier this year. The campus is expected to open in 2027.

- Superb Stadium -

Very cool moment at a ceremony at Northwestern University’s new Ryan Field stadium project when Evanston Mayor Daniel Biss gave a shoutout to the MACRC and Local 58 Representative Rob Piane for working with the Trade Collective bringing some Evanston residents into the Carpenter’s Union. This was a big moment for our new apprentices that exemplifies how we build communities and provide family-sustaining career opportunities to local residents. Welcome aboard Jaden Brammer, Ivan Lewis, Israel Esteban and Macsen Evans!

- Cabinet Shop -

Since 1978, Woodbyrne has been crafting one-of-a-kind masterpieces for some of American’s most recognizable companies including Disney, Boeing, Bridgestone and Anheuser-Busch. Their cabinetry shop in St. Louis employs a team of uniquely skilled union carpenters with a level of craftsmanship you just won’t find in mass-produced woodwork. Hats off to all our brothers and sisters bringing unmatched talents to the cabinet shops.

Well Deserved: Congrats to MACRC Vice President Tony Guida who was recently honored as one of the Persons of the Year at the Italian-American Executives of Transportation Salute to Labor dinner. Tony leads by example in our union and is known for his professionalism, work ethic and mentorship. Congrats Brother!

Listen Up: We’d like to thank the American Welding Academy in Union, MO for inviting us to meet these young men and women interested in becoming professional millwrights and carpenters. We offer a chance to perfect the skills they’ve been learning, while earning great pay and benefits. Thanks to Local 1839 and Local 1529 millwright representative Tim Kelly.
