On the Waterfront
Union Piledrivers are hard at work on icy Lake Michigan building a new marina on the north side of Chicago's Navy Pier. Not quite beach weather yet, but that's not stopping our members from getting the job done!

The Illinois Consolidated Election is tomorrow and we’re supporting candidates who support us, including Local 1027 member Phil Dukes, running for Elk Grove, IL Township trustee. Our members came out in full force last week to talk to voters and make sure the MACRC is well represented in Elk Grove Township. Phil is one of several members running for office - a list that also includes Local 243 Delegate Seth Redington running for Mayor of Clinton, IL. Good luck to Phil, Seth and all our Brothers and Sisters running for office.

Support candidates who support carpenter economics!
| | Lots of progress being made on this new home community thanks to our crew from Courtway Construction. McBride Homes is having no problem filling up St. Andrews Meadows in Union, MO with some spectacular views just outside St. Louis. | | KC business reps and Carpenters apprenticeship staff recently visited with students at Job Corps in Flint Hills, KS. The council reps spoke about the rewarding career of being a union carpenter and the benefits of being a member. Thank you for encouraging the next generation of carpenters to kickstart their careers. | | Campus Construction Stalls Across IL Universities | | Surprising Some, Hawley Pushes Pro-Union Bill | | |
For our Vets: Henry Franzen (grandson of Local 1027 Rep Rusty Broadbent) raised over $2,000 for disabled vets with this Field of Flags fundraiser. The 10-year-old wanted to honor his two Army veteran great-grandfathers by placing 192 flags in front of his school. We’re proud to have this young man in the Carpenters’ extended family.

Stronger Together
Health Fund Update
The health funds in the Northern Illinois and St. Louis-Kansas City regions are merging effective April 1, 2025. This merger reduces expenses and combines assets and investments together, providing financial security and stability, now and in the future.
Uniting as one health fund makes us larger and stronger. With more participants covered under one fund, we will have more bargaining power to negotiate better pricing on contracts, reduce duplicate service provider charges, and enhance benefits for our participants and their families through the greater financial strength of the merged fund.

Energized
The St. Louis campus hosted this career/trade show sponsored by our Associated Electrical Contractors, who provided food & drinks, give-a-ways and raffles to area high school juniors and seniors. Signatory electrical contractors met with students, distributors and manufactures, offering a Q&A on employment opportunities. Thanks to Intake Facilitator Cesar Lima for giving a great overview of the career paths available in the Carpenters Union.
