Subject: Membership Monday: We're the Go-To Source on Solar ... and Calling Out Bad Business

Brighter Days

Miles of open fields and plenty of sunny days make for ideal solar farm locations, plus a bounty of new work in this emerging industry. We recently caught up with this hardworking crew installing thousands of solar panels in Missouri. Union Carpenters have a bright future ahead thanks to growing demand in clean energy.

...and in St. Louis, dozens of government officials and contractors gathered at our training center last week to hear from MACRC Director of Business Develpment Tony Janowski and other industry experts. We are the go-to source for the latest updates on solar advancements and best practices for bidding and building renewable energy projects.

- Back to Work -

Remote working is on the decline post-pandemic, and office buildouts have us busy in downtown Chicago. Union Carpenters are setting the pace in creating state-of-the-art workplaces. Our members work hard on improving the bustling downtown area while staying safe. Keep up the great work!

- Voter Approved -

Union Carpenters are working on a renovation of Eugene Field Elementary School in Maryville, MO. DCM Drywall is hanging the drywall on this JE Dunn project. Voters passed a $23 million bond increase last year, providing funds for school construction.

- Getting Together -

We stopped by for lunch with these members working up an appetite in Franklin County, MO. Stonebridge is a multi-phase development by Northern Star Homes. With crews from CCS, River City Drywall, Henges Interiors and Structural Concrete you know these houses are getting built right and built to last.

- Expect Us -

Scabby paid a visit to the Jack-in-the-Box located at 5656 La Grange Road in Countryside, Illinois. Shame on Jack-in-the-Box for using labor that undercuts workers. Click on the link and let company leadership know that exploiting labor is bad behavior and bad for business!

Up Next: After years of planning, a new Mississippi River bridge is taking shape thanks to union carpenters; A unique radio program brings trades talk to the airwaves; Chicago public school kids get hands-on learning; and in Kansas City we're discovering the STARS of tomorrow.

Play Ball: We had a great time at the Annual Chicago and Cook County Building Trades Dollars Against Diabetes Softball Tournament. The MACRC had a nice showing but came up a little short in the end. Thanks to all our players and everyone who came out to support this great cause. On to next year Brothers!

Listen Up: Our health care team recently visited the Elk Grove Village Apprentice & Training Program to talk with students about the importance of stress management and mental health. Clinical therapist Jonathan Liu discussed common signs and symptoms of stress, along with practical techniques and tools to help manage stress. Apprentices were able to make appointments at the end of the presentation at one of the six MCL Health Clinic locations. Check out all the benefits available through our exceptional care centers:
