Time & Talent

We've officially kicked off our 2026 Saturday Give-Back. Once a month you'll be seeing our volunteer union carpenters donating their time and skills doing residential safety upgrades for senior citizens in the Chicagoland area. Thanks to all of our members who find time to help those in need.

- On Campus -

We’re keeping busy on this $23 million job at St. Louis Community College. Students in the school’s Hotel/Restaurant Management program are getting new classrooms and state-of-the-art kitchens to perfect their craft.

- Skills Day -

We recently hosted some students from the Missouri Works Initiative at our St. Louis Training Center for some in-person training on the basics of our trade. They've now learned a little more about what it takes to be a skilled union carpenter. We hope to see them back in our training schools soon!

- Moving Up -

Congratulations to these hardworking apprentices from Local 1185 who recently journeyed out. Your dedication and determination have not gone unnoticed. Keep plugging away brothers, you make our union proud!

Out & About: It was a fun day at this year’s Home & Garden Show in St. Louis. At the Carpenters’ booth we talked career options with the public and taught youngsters how to build their very own toolbox to take home and enjoy.

Solutions: Southern Illinois contractors gathered at our Belleville campus to hear about compliance on emergency door installation. Many facilities (especially in healthcare) are now required to provide annual door inspections. By offering a workforce that can both inspect and repair doors in one visit, the UBC's CODE program has a streamlined solution for safety compliance.
