Down on the Farm

Local 662 Carpenters are hard at work at the Thebes Solar Project in the southern tip of Illinois. This 40-acre solar farm will produce sustainable energy for the surrounding communities. Keep up the great work Brothers!

- On the Job -

A new multi-agency state health lab is being built by signatory contractor McCown Gordon in Missouri's state capitol. Union Carpenters with TJ Wies are currently hanging metal studs on the 250,000-square-foot building that will house laboratory facilities for five state departments including the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services. The lab is set to open next year.

- Summer Heat -

Summer’s here and home building is heating up around St. Louis. This is Boone Ridge by McBride, a new community in Truesdale, MO that’s keeping our crews from Revolutionary Builders busy with 64 houses to build and lots of man-hours.

- Learning the Ropes -

KC Union Reps recently attended an event for the Scaffold and Access Industry Association (SAIA) held at signatory contractor KC Scaffold's offices. Speakers at the meeting presented on a new safety audit for pre-erected scaffold, mental health in the construction industry and training was provided on fall arrest systems. KC Scaffold has been involved with SAIA since 1977 and has been a regional leader in the scaffold industry for decades. Thank you for keeping our members safe!

- Halls of Power -

Having a seat at the table gives the Carpenters Union a stronger voice where it matters. Local 1 Rep Guy Ruggieri has been sworn in as the newest village trustee of Addison, Illinois. We're proud to see one of our own become a community leader standing up for our values and working hard to secure more projects for our members. Congrats Brother!

Marksmen: The Southern Illinois Scholarship held its annual Clay Shoot at the World Shooting Complex in Sparta, IL. We had 90 individuals participate in the festivities. A fun way to raise money for a good cause. Good shooting fellas!

Leadership Training: Representative Craig Kobler of Local 790 in partnership with Safety Director Alberto Jotautas hosted a full house of stewards and potential stewards from Locals 790 and 792 for Shop Steward Training at the Rockford Apprentice Training Center. All who attended found the class highly educational and are looking forward to representing their local members.

Volunteer Teamwork: The Boys and Girls Club of St. Charles, MO has a new utility shed thanks to some generous teamwork. MACRC training instructors, business reps, and members of Locals 32 and 92 combined forces to erect this prefab 12x20 storage shed modularized by Pre-Apprentice Tactical Training School (PATTS) participants in St. Louis. Looks solid Brothers, thanks for pitching in!
