Subject: Membership Monday: Memorial Day Remembrance ... and STL Tornado Relief

Memorial Day

This Memorial Day, we honor the brave men and women who gave their lives for our country. Their sacrifice inspires our work, our unity, and our purpose. From all of us at the Mid-America Carpenters Regional Council, we remember, we honor, and we thank them for giving their all.

- Aftermath -

The Carpenters Union is joining the St. Louis community in lending a hand following a deadly tornado that ripped through the city on May 16. We're donating lumber and tarps to the recovery effort, which has seen an outpouring of grassroots support. More than 4,000 homes and businesses were hit by the mile-wide twister and it's estimated that $1.6 billion in damage will need to be repaired.

- Highway Work -

Missouri leaders announced last year that work would be done to widen Interstate 70 to three lanes in both directions across the entire state. Our members are working hard to make this widening project successful. Union Carpenters working for Millstone Weber were recently brought in for a pile driving job to excavate a box culvert underneath this section of I-70 outside of Columbia, MO.

- Back to School -

Local 4 members working with Builders Sales & Service and Russell Construction are renovating this college in Moline. The school is adding more career technical training classrooms for students wanting to study robotics, mechatronics, welding, industrial tech and engineering.

- United We Move -

Chicago has America's second largest transit system, used by countless workers every day getting to work. Don't leave our brothers and sisters stranded. Contact your lawmakers so we can fully fund this key transportation and keep Illinois working!
