Subject: Membership Monday: Delegates Gather in KC ... and MO Elections Tomorrow

KC Gathering

MACRC delegates gathered in Kansas City on Saturday to conduct union business and hear Regional Council updates from EST Kevin McLaughlin. They were briefed on recent health fund mergers, a new season of Built to Last coming in July and updates on the UBC's general convention being held in August. Special thanks to Missouri Gov. Mike Kehoe and KC Mayor Quinton Lucas for making time to attend and meet with our members.

- Medical Campus -

A $14.5 million UMKC College of Medicine building is taking shape in St. Joseph, MO. The teaching facility will sit across the street from St. Joe's major hospital, Mosaic Life Care, and could be a pipeline for students studying there once the medical school opens later this year. Union Carpenters working for Lehr Construction Co Inc. are making it all possible. Our members know the ins and outs of hospital construction and renovation with the expertise necessary to keep communities healthy.

- Raise a Glass -

If you’re in Missouri, Arkansas or Nebraska you might be familiar with Macadoodles Wine Cellar. They boast over 4,000 brands of fine wine, liquor and imported beer. Their newest location in Union, MO is set to open just in time for the busy July 4th weekend thanks to fast work from our crew at Titan Carpentry.

- Slip N' Slide -

As we slide into spring, aquatic centers and waterparks prepare for the crowds to come. The Barrington Aquatic Center will have some new waterslides thanks to the hard work of a Carpenters Local 250 crew. Rest assured Barringtonians, you can enjoy this wild ride knowing your new slides are built with the highest quality craftsmanship!

- Mass Timber -

The 2025 International Mass Timber Conference in Portland, Oregon brought 4,000 architects, developers and contractors together in one place. All UBC councils, including the MACRC, were there to meet with decision makers, reminding them that our mass timber training produces the most professional and safest installers in North America. (Thanks to everyone who made sure the UBC was well represented, including: Pat Sowers, Training Coordinator, Local 1 Rep Tony Guida, Midwestern District Vice-President Mike Kwiatkowski, Midwestern Representative Eric Yuhasz, CITF Executive Director Bob Jacobson, CITF Senior Technical Coordinator Andy Carr and CITF Heavy and Mass Timber Technical Coordinator Alfonso Bastidos.)

Ante Up: Local 1310 raised more than $4,200 for the scholarship fund, thanks to generous sponsors and our members who came out for a night of fun at the annual 1310 Poker Tournament.

Don't Forget: Tomorrow is a municipal election day across Missouri. Using our vote to support candidates and issues impacting working families is one important way we fight for more jobs and a stronger union.

When we vote, we win!
