Looking Ahead
MACRC delegates gathered in St Louis over the weekend to review progress made in the past year, while looking ahead to 2026. EST Kevin McLaughlin introduced leadership changes with a few familiar faces now serving in new roles, and announced a revamped focus on organizing to increase membership in the new year. We thank all our Brothers and Sisters for their dedication to the Mid-America Carpenters Regional Council. And special thanks to our speakers including St. Louis Mayor Cara Spencer, attorney Terry McGann, Waterways Council Vice President Paul Rohde, and Col. Andy Pannier, Commander of the Army Corps of Engineers' St. Louis District.
| It’s been a brutal year for severe weather in the St. Louis area. The Charing Cross neighborhood in Villa Ridge suffered 130 mph winds back in March, displacing many residents. Crews from CCS, Thoroughbred, River City Drywall and Henges Flooring are hard at work rebuilding and getting those folks back into their homes. | | When spring returns you can catch some shade at the South Boeing Gallery in Chicago's Millenium Park thanks to a new reclaimed timber pavilion crafted and installed by MACRC carpenters! This partnership with Chicago Architectural Biennial, Millenium Park, Skidmore, Owens and Merrill (SOM), Norcon, Inc., and Washington University used salvaged wood to eliminate the need for new raw materials, while giving our carpenters valuable experience in timber installation. Special thanks to Training Coordinator Pat Sowers, Local 1 Representative Henry Culbertson and all the instructors and members who came together on short notice. | | Union STARS held its Fall Union Expo at the KC Training Center. Hundreds of adults and area students learned about union careers from multiple trades and signatory contractors. We're gearing up the next generation of union tradespeople one event at a time and teaching them that pricy college isn't the only avenue to land a successful career. | As an active member, you have an opportunity to protect your family's financial future with discounted life and AD&D insurance through the National Coalition of Labor.
