McCarron Team Re-Elected

The MACRC congratulates UBC General President Douglas J. McCarron and his leadership team who were unanimously elected to a new five-year term at the 43rd UBC General Convention in Las Vegas this past week. The UBC remains in good hands.

Pictured (L to R): General President McCarron, General Vice President Gary Perinar, Second General Vice President Pete Rodriguez, General Secretary-Treasurer Mark McGriff, Southern District Vice President Jason Engels, Midwestern District Vice President Mike Kwiatkowski, Eastern District Vice President Joe Geiger, Western District Vice President Frank Hawk, and Canadian District Vice President Jason Rowe (not pictured)

This UBC convention was one for the ages and the Mid-America Carpenters Regional Council played a big part. A huge congrats goes to our former EST Gary Perinar, who was elected General Vice President and brought the house down with a rousing speech reminding us that we will always stand tall in the face of adversity. And in a special moment, Perinar’s father, Gary Perinar Sr., was invited to the podium to swear in General President McCarron and the rest of his leadership team.

EST Kevin McLaughlin also delivered strong remarks and was featured in an inspiring video about the UBC’s healthcare and pension plans. President Joel Pogose and Vice President Wade Beasley were recognized for their leadership and took the stage as members of the Rules and Constitution Committees, as were directors from throughout our Regional Council who were asked to serve on other committees including Elections, Resolutions, Finance and more. And a special shoutout to MACRC Business Development Director Tony Janowski, who was featured in a jurisdictional video on the UBC's continued dominance in the solar energy industry.

The convention was an electrifying four days where union pride and solidarity were on full display.

The future belongs to those who build it!

- Night Life -

"The Lake" is an exciting new social club in the early stages at 205 W. Superior, right next to the Brown Line stop in downtown Chicago. Once completed, it will house five stories of restaurant space, a spa and hotel guest rooms. The MACRC Carpenters with GC Bulley & Andrews will have this slice of luxury done in no time!

- Public Safety -

We’re close to finished on this $8 million upgrade to the police station & fire house in the St. Louis suburb of Des Peres. Working with general contractor C. Rallo, we’ll have a much-improved building for the town’s first responders with new bunk rooms, holding cells and office space.

- Career Center -

This will soon be home to the Blue Springs Missouri Career Innovation Center, where high school students training for various professions get career ready. Carpenters working for signatory contractors JE Dunn, DH Pace, E&K and Leavcon Concrete Construction are performing the full carpenters scope of work. Great job to our members for creating this important experience for the next generation!
