Family Values
Our members did us proud, turning out for St. Paddy's parades in Chicago and KC. Mother Nature didn't always cooperate, so thanks to these Carpenter families who traded their dry weekend for soggy parades. We may have finished a few shades greener (and a little wetter), but our union spirit stays strong!
| Our EST Kevin McLaughlin had the honor of being the keynote speaker for a crowd of more than 400 at this graduation for the 548 Foundation, which provides a sustainable energy workforce education program for underserved communities. More than 120 graduates graced the stage to receive their certificate. We’re proud of their hard work and look forward to having new brothers and sisters join the Carpenters. Thanks to EST McLaughlin and 548 Founder AJ Patton for creating this visionary partnership. | In Missouri’s fastest-growing school district, Wentzville, the Inverness subdivision is meeting huge demand for new homes. That means lots of work for this crew of siders, framers and trim carpenters. Inverness sits on 100 acres with lakes, trails and pocket parks in a scenic area of St. Charles County. | |
Safety Director Al Jotautas led a safety talk for over 225 workers, including Local 174 Carpenters, at Citgo’s Lemont Refinery in preparation for the Spring Turnaround onsite. We expect to have over 200 carpenters building scaffold at the peak of the event.
Our members have pledged to prioritize safety and signed the MACRC Safety Refined banner, which will hang in the lunchroom as a daily reminder. If the outage is completed with incident-free performance, Local 174 President Gary G. Perinar III promises to frame the banner and hang it in the Local's hall as a point of pride. Safety will always be our #1 priority!

We were able to flip the work and the developer committed to building union on the next phase of this development. Congrats to Local 174 Representative Mike Dinelli, our Organizing department and all our digital activists who sent emails to the developer and Trader Joe's advocating for our Area Standards. Great Job Brothers and Sisters! | Hands On: We had a fun day getting to show everyone what the Carpenters are all about at the annual HBR Home Show in Belleville. It's the largest home expo in the Metro East, drawing 10,000 home owners and career seekers. | | | | |
