MIZ-ZOU
Union Carpenters are renovating Mizzou's football stadium. The two-year, $250-million dollar project will overhaul Faurot Field at Memorial Stadium by adding new seating and restaurant space. Currently, our members are working on concrete forms but soon Carpenters will start hanging metal studs and drywall, building cabinetry, installing doors and door hardware and performing trim carpentry.
| | Last month our Elk Grove Village Training Center held its first Apprentice Orientation where 1st-years got a crash course in the MACRC, including the history of our union, the hierarchy, paying dues, benefits, how to check hours, and everything in between. Thanks to Instructor John Husnick and Coordinator Pat Sowers for taking time on a Saturday leading this important initiative. Welcome aboard new Brothers and Sisters! | | The prognosis looks good at the new Great Mines Health Center under construction and on schedule in Farmington, MO. Our dedicated crew with Brockmiller is building this six-acre medical, dental and substance abuse treatment center opening this summer. | | Reminder: The deadline for the George Vest, Jr. - Richard S. Pepper Scholarship Award is just a month away. This is a great opportunity that provides financial support to college-bound children of MACRC members living in Illinois and Iowa. | | Last week we said farewell to Brother Bob Lid, who is retiring after serving the Regional Council for 24 years as manager of our Contracts and Bonds Department. Bob’s unwavering dedication played a huge role in ensuring that our bargaining agreements are fair, contractors are accountable, and our members are protected. Bob has served in numerous leadership roles in Carpenters Local 54 throughout his 42 years as a member. He has also served for the past 12 years on the MACRC Executive Board, where his voice and wisdom have been invaluable in shaping the future of our Regional Council. We wish Bob and his family all the best in his retirement. Congrats Brother and thanks for everything. Your hard work and dedication have paid off. The future of our trades is in great hands! | | Energized: This past week, we welcomed the Ameren Renewables Team to our St. Louis training center. Their tour focused on all aspects of the carpentry trade, in particular the MACRC’s investments in the renewable energy sector. Ameren, Missouri’s largest electric supplier, is committed to using and developing our local workforce and we’re excited to power this valuable relationship into the future. | |
