Ribbon Cutting
We’ve officially opened our new state-of-the-art training center in East Moline, Illinois. At 55,000 square feet, we’ll be able to train thousands of union carpenters and millwrights for the growing work across the Quad Cities. Thank you to all the members, apprentices, instructors, contractors, and MACRC leaders who made this new building possible. It was a long time coming and now stands as an outstanding new addition to the Quad Cities region. And special thanks to all the speakers at the Grand Opening, including EST Kevin McLaughlin, Regional Director Dan O'Connell, East Moline Mayor Reggie Freeman, State Senator Mike Halpin, PJ Foley of AGC Quad Cities, Paul Elgatian of Illowa Millwright Contractors, MACRC Training Program Chairman Jerry Thiel, and MACRC Training Program Executive Director Craig Triplett. The event received an abundance of news coverage so click on the link below to see more.

The state of Missouri has named our St. Louis Training Center Provider of the Year. With nearly 2,500 apprentices, the STL campus has more skilled trades students studying under one roof than any other program in the state. A high honor indeed!
We are excited to announce this residential project going up in the Lincoln Park Neighborhood of Chicago. The 4 city-lot, $12 million home is being built by elite Union Carpenters. We stopped by to thank our Brothers on this site for their hard work and dedication on this massive residential project. Can't wait to see the final product!
The MACRC has the industry's best tradeshow carpenters. Recently our members from Local 10 were busy breaking down exhibits at the Pack Expo at McCormick Place in Chicago. This packaging exhibition is one of the largest in the country and brings in more than 45,000 attendees every year. McCormick Place is 2.6 million sq. ft. and our members can have it emptied out and ready for the next show in a matter of days. Great work!
Outstanding work by this group of Flooring Installers Local 1185 apprentices who volunteered their time and skills at Lutheran Church Charities’ new equipment warehouse in Schaumburg, IL. A special thanks to 1185 Rep Pat Noonan for organizing the project, Schonox for donating the material, and Training Instructor Gabe Campos for supervising the work. Great job Brothers!
Two years ago, Kansas Gov. Laura Kelly created the Kansas Office of Registered Apprenticeships and last week (during National Apprenticeship Week) she announced a $500,000 grant to support registered apprenticeship programs across the state. Gov. Kelly has demonstrated she is a friend of organized labor and the skilled trades and for that we thank the governor for her support.

Join the Club: Cub Club continues to be a space where apprentices can learn the ropes of the trade and how to become more involved in their Union. Over the last few months, we have seen great turnouts at Cub Club meetings for Locals 270, 237, 13, 1889, 664, 1310, and 315, 1127, and 1529 of KC. Let's keep this momentum going into the new year!
First Steps: We met over 1,000 high schoolers exploring skilled trades at the Metro Construction Careers Expo in Belleville. This is the 24th year that the Southern Illinois Builders has sponsored this showcase, the largest of its kind in downstate Illinois. Many men and women are working in the trades today because of what they first learned at one of these expos.
Tools for Life
Meet James R. Foulkes, our newest Tools for Life ambassador. He shared: "I found out that counseling from the carpenters' benefits was available. This was something that I could really use and take advantage of to be a more healthy, emotional, stable husband. I would advise anybody, if you have a family, to make sure you're not only physically healthy but mentally and emotionally healthy."
Hear it straight from Carpenters just like you. Listen to their life stories about alcohol, substance abuse, PTSD, relationships and more. Don't give up! Get inspired and get help!
