Namesake:

Former U.S. Senator Roy Blunt is getting this new three-story building named for him on the campus of Southeast Missouri State University. Local contractor Penzel Construction is handling work on what will become the school’s Department of Health & Sports Sciences. Congrats to Sen. Blunt and to the union carpenters doing us proud on this notable job.

- Taking Off -

Here we are at the massive Concourse D project at O'Hare Airport's Terminal 1. MACRC carpenters are framing the mechanical shaft for this phase of the overhaul that will eventually have 60 of our members working on site. Best trained. Most productive. Work done right.

- New School -

The student body at St. Paul’s Lutheran School in St. Louis is growing and so is their campus. A music room, a gym with regulation-size court, new classrooms and a beautiful stage for school productions will greet students starting next school year. Pinnacle Contracting and all the union subs are giving these kids a place they’ll be proud of for years to come.

- Team Work -

The MACRC Organizing Department continues to raise the bar, while bringing high energy both on and off the streets. During a recent workshop at our Lisle office with our legal team, we strategized hot button topics we're facing on the job, honing the edge we need. When our team works together we all win. The lives of every worker, their families, and the communities we live in drastically improve as a result! Thanks to Chicago and northeast Illinois District Organizing Lead Gary G. Perinar III for spearheading, as well as Organizing Director Jim McDonnell, St. Louis District Organizing Lead RJ Catizon, and MACRC attorneys Nick Kasmer, Terry McGann, and Karen Rioux for presenting.

- Scholarship Deadline Feb. 20-

Each year, the Chicago Federation of Labor awards 10 William A. Lee Memorial Scholarships to high school seniors, five to the winners of the Academic Competition, and five to the winners of the Random Drawing. Applicants must choose to enter either the Random Drawing or Academic Competition for the William A. Lee Memorial Scholarship. Applicant or applicant’s parent must be a member in good standing of a CFL-affiliated union. Click here to learn more.

Appreciated: Brand Safeway Company has generously donated this cup-lock scaffolding to our Belleville training campus. It's $20,000 worth of material that will help us train apprentices on scaffolding systems. We appreciate Brand Safeway and all our generous contractors who keep union carpenters the best trained in our industry.
