Well Deserved
Congrats to the Pekin Training Program Class of 2025, shown here celebrating their graduation last Friday. They endured the long hours, jobsite challenges, classroom work, and the early mornings to cross the finish line as proud, journey-level members of our historic union. We can't wait to see you thrive in your crafts! And thanks to all the organizers and speakers, including EST Kevin McLaughlin, Southern District Director Riki Dial, Training Executive Director Craig Triplett, Training Coordinator Brandon Stetzler, IL AFL-CIO President Tim Drea, and contractors Mike Sunley and Todd Thompson.
| MACRC carpenters are absolutely killing it at a massive data center project in Chicago's northwest suburbs that just celebrated 1 million hours without an injury! It's a testament to how serious we are about safety and showcases the value we bring to our signatory contractors and developers. Data centers are a trillion-dollar industry and this recognition leaves no doubt that we are the best trained to handle the workload! | | We sit in the heart of America’s grain belt, where corn, wheat and soybeans are shipped to the rest of the country and the world. Our expert millwrights with ACME Constructors are expanding this grain terminal in Fairmont City, Illinois for the Bunge corporation. It’s a big job requiring precision skill and top-level safety protocol, and there’s no one better qualified to do it than the Carpenters Union. | | The AdHoc Group Against Crime is building a new healing and justice center in Kansas City. The group offers counseling and support to families of gun violence victims and is a resource to anyone in the community for violence intervention and prevention. Our members working for 4-Gen Construction are building out the exterior frame for the building on this JE Dunn job. Well done on helping out the KC area with this important work. | We are thrilled to announce that Tony Janowski has been recognized as a 2025 Notable Leader in Sustainability by Crain's Chicago Business. It spotlights Tony's tireless dedication to building a more environmentally conscious future and an even brighter one for our members through the countless work opportunities he helps create. Congratulations Tony on this well-deserved recognition! | | MACRC Fights for Union Jobs in Quincy, IL | | AI Threat Drives Younger Workers Into Trades Careers | | |
Going Strong: The annual Construction Career Expo in Belleville is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year. Over three days, more than 1,200 southern Illinois high schoolers came through the doors and our training school instructors were happy to spend some time with each and every one of them.
...and we had another great turnout at the District 218 Career Fair in Oak Lawn, IL. Thanks to training center outreach specialist Yolanda Valadez and Local 10 Representative Eric Frausto for talking to students and spreading the word about our union.
