On the Move

Congratulations to our former EST Gary Perinar, who was just named General Vice President of the UBC! It’s a point of pride for the MACRC to see one of our own go from working carpenter, to Local 174 President, to EST and now General Vice President of the UBC! GVP Perinar is as dedicated to this Brotherhood as they come and well deserving of this incredible honor. Keep making us proud!

- Game Changers -

Young fathers from the Dovetail Project toured our Elk Grove Village training center for a day of hands-on learning. Dovetail teaches that true fatherhood thrives when dads are equipped with the skills and stable employment to support their families and build a secure future. Thanks to Executive Director Craig Triplett for organizing this tour and showing the young men that there’s a life-changing career in professional carpentry for all who want it.

- On the Job -

Tucked away in quiet Foristell, MO are these new luxury homes for buyers wanting privacy with back-to-nature living. Our residential carpenters with Fischer & Frichtel have already made a lot of progress on what’s being called Del Creek Crossing, and we’re told it's selling fast with only a few lots still available.

- Helping Hands -

Local 54 Carpenters have been proudly donating their time and skillset at the Center for Independence in Chicago. They completed some restoration and refinishing work on equipment to prevent any injury to the center's children. Way to go Brothers & Sisters!

The newest issue of our Union Carpenter magazine is now online. Check out the latest news about our council, our members and projects we're proudly building throughout the Midwest.

Rich History: Congratulations to Local 1027 member Patrick Hammers, who received his 50-year Gold Card. With a name like Hammers he was destined to be a carpenter! Congrats Brother and thank you for all your years of service. We also thank Local 1027 Recording Secretary Neil Mercatoris for donating a vest that belonged to his father festooned with pins from a UBC convention in the 1970's. Great to see so much history on display!

Senator Meet and Greet: Central IL Assistant Regional Director Matt Bender (second from left) met with U.S. Senator Tammy Duckworth last week to discuss energy tax credits, Davis Bacon, investing in nuclear power, and other federal issues important to our members. Bender also thanked the Senator for her commitment to our inland waterways, which help create work-hours for our members.
