So, we know from the garbled press
accounts of the two ("Alleged" - cause they haven't even been
indicted yet) Boston Marathon bombers and it seems they are Chechens.
Some of you might be wondering - what in the blue hell is a Chechen?
They're White - but they're Muslim (confusion!) - and there's some kind of war
or something over there? Also, terrorism.
A Chechen is a person from Chechnya - but, what the hell is a Chechnya?
Chechnya is a country in the Caucusus Mountains on the border between Europe
and Asia - it's the place that is the ancestral origin point of the White races
of Europe (thus "Caucasian" - if you're a White person, or have White
ancestry, your peoples originally came from here)
The area is home to a bunch of Caucasian ethnic groups these days - Ossetians,
Georgians, Cossacks, Dagestanis, Armenians, Azeris and, of course Chechens - as
well as lots and lots of ethnic Russians, because the area was ruled by Russia
and then the Soviet Union for 215 years and parts of it are still part of
Russia - some are Christians (Ossetians, Georgians, Armenians, Cossacks) some
are Muslim (Dagestanis, Azeris, Chechens)
Here's a long ass summary of the last 5,000 years of Chechen history, if you're
really that interested -
A long time ago - the ancestors of the Chechens settled Chechnya
1785 - The Russian Tsar invaded and conquered Chechnya
1817-1864 - The Caucasian Wars - Russia won, after killing lots and lots and
lots of Chechens and other Caucasian tribespeople.
1890 - oil gets discovered in Chechnya, and in two other Caucasian territories,
Azerbajian and Dagestan - this makes these areas really important to every
future Russian and Soviet government - important enough to body a whole lot of
Caucasians over.
1917 - the Tsar got overthrown in the Russian Revolution - the Caucasian tribes
support the revolution, because they got promised their independence
1924 - Lenin, the leader of the Russian Revolution, dies - his successor -
Stalin (who was a Caucasian himself - he was a Georgian) - decides that the
Caucasians can't get independent, because OIL
1928-39 - lots of Chechens and other Caucasians who support independence or
just disagree with the Soviet Government get locked up in prison by the Soviet
police, the NKVD - some of them die in prison, eventually (like 30 years later)
some of them get to come home from prison
1941 - 45 - World War II - Chechnya is an important strategic prize, because
OIL, Germany promises them independence during a short lived occupation - the
Soviet Army drives out the German Army, and the entire population of Chechnya
get charged with treason (even the ones that opposed the Germans) and they all
get sent to Siberia by freight train
1945-1960 500,000 Chechens in exile in Siberia - Stalin dies in 1953, his
successor Khrushchev, lets them go back home (he gives the order in 1957 -
basically because he needed Chechen oil workers to work the oil fields - they
don't actually get the train tickets home til 1960 - this time, they get to
ride in the passenger cars, instead of riding with the freight like when they
got deported)
1991 - the Soviet Union falls, the Georgians, Armenians and Azeris seceded from
Russia, the Chechens try to secede, without success
1992-2000 The Chechen Wars - Chechnya tries to secede, actually functions as an
independent country for a hot minute, Russia violently supresses the secession,
large numbers of Russian soldiers and police are deployed to Chechnya, they
launch a wave of murder, rape, looting and arson that burns the Chechen
capital, Grozny, a city of a million people -to the ground - they murder about
100,000 Chechens in the process - nobody knows how many Chechen women they
raped or Chechen homes and businesses they robbed and/or burned down
2000 - present - Chechen separatists wage a low intensity terrorist war against
Russia - they engage in acts of great brutality - and the Russian police also
engage in great brutality against them - the low point being when the Chechen
separatists seized an elementary school and took the students hostage - and the
Russian police came in guns blazing and shot many of the hostages (then killed
all the Chechen separatists after they were captured). the Chechen separatists
also seized an opera house in Moscow during a performance - the Russian police
basically did the same thing, ended the hostage situation by gassing the
hostages
That's where these guys come from, and that's how folks get down over there.
