Organized Power
Working together, MACRC representatives and organizers secured work at the taxpayer-funded Grace Terrace housing development in Arlington Heights, Illinois. Our Tax Fraud department exposed the facts and determined that this project was required to pay Davis-Bacon wages. Our representatives/organizers brought pressure from the top down with elected officials, the developer and industry partners to help our cause. Because we didn’t sit back, the Regional Council fought for this work and won it! The non-union contractors were pushed out, union crews were brought in, and our members secured the full carpentry scope on this 24-unit project. That’s the power of union organizing!
