Safe & Sound

Properly working warning systems are critical during natural disasters, like floods and tornados. The people of Jefferson County, Missouri are getting new solar-powered sirens thanks to our expert crew from Local 57. We’re installing more than 100 of these life-saving sirens this year throughout JeffCo.

The MACRC is fortunate to have the best safety department in the business, led by Safety Director Al Jotautas, Assistant Safety Director Butch Sikora and Safety Rep JD Walton. They’ve recently been involved in several partnerships with OSHA, DOL and our general contractors at sites including Kellog Education Center and Compass Data Center. Thank you for all your hard work to keep our members safe.

1587 Prime Steakhouse opens this week in the heart of downtown Kansas City, MO. From start to finish, Union Carpenters working for E&K and JE Dunn built this beautiful restaurant. The steakhouse gets its name from the jersey numbers of co-owners Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce. Great work Brothers and Sisters!

MACRC Representatives recently provided lunch for our members at two high-profile residential projects: Yorktown Reserves in Lombard and Arlington Gateway in Arlington Heights. These jobsite meet-ups provide an opportunity for fellowship and reflect our appreciation for the hard work, unity and dedication our members bring to their work every day. Thanks to all our members for the work you do raising the bar and strengthening our union

We’ve raised a whopping $63,000 from our annual council golf tournament in St. Louis benefiting the scholarship fund. Big thank you to the over 300 golfers, dozens of sponsors and Mayor Cara Spencer who turned out to show their support this year.

Top Chefs: The MACRC once again had a tremendous showing at the Great Lakes Construction Association's Tailgate Cook-Off at the Lake County Fairgrounds. Our reps and members took home eight medals in various categories including ribs, chicken, and brisket. We cooked over 30 slabs of ribs, 10 briskets, and six pork shoulders! This event drew over 3,000 attendees including dozens of our signatory contractors. Congrats to the winners and everybody for the time they put in to make this event special. See you next year!

Pitching In: Shout-out to Local 1889 volunteers who did this recent roadside cleanup in Elgin, Illinois. Two miles of Route 58 are much cleaner now thanks to you all. Just another way that Union Carpenters improve our communities!
