My intension is to provide 'Devnagari Font' freely available to all,
through Email. I have developed the new font 'EMgangal' for this
purpose.
Special features of the EMGangal font:
1. Marathi consonants are written as (consonant + vowel A). Marathi
written consonants may be devided into two groups [1] 'Vertical-line'
at the end (Ex: Pa, Na), [2] 'Vertical -line' at centre (Ka, Fa) or
'Vertical-short-line' on top (Chha, La). Type consonants using
EMGangal font as follows: [1] type of consonants: ''' Consonant + a
''', [2] type of consonants: ''' Consonat + / '''. Please note that
this must be followed to complete a typing of a consonant.
2. For typing 'Jodakshar' do not complete a consonant by typing either
''' a or / ''' after a consonat but add next consonat of the
Jodakshar. Jodakshar is achived by this method. This is the only
method to achive a 'Jodakshar' with bare minimum keys. The design of
each consonant along with Vowels are made to adopt this new method of
typing.
3. There are five uttering sounds of 'R' in Marathi. They are provided
on the keys '#, $, %, ^, R'. I have selected '#, $, %, ^, R' these
keys because these keys are close to letter 'r'. One can remember them
by looking at them because '# indicates stroke-down, $ indicates
'Rafar', % indicates sign below line, ^ indicates the same sign below
consonant'. Thus the typing becomes more users friendly.
4. Marathi has consonant group of 'T' in Talwar (Sward). They consist
of five consonants. They are used in Marathi as 'T' in Talwar (Sward),
'Th' in Themb (Drop), 'D' in Dat (Tooth), 'Dh' in Dhar (Catch), 'N' in
Nak (Nose). The pronunciation of this T is different than 'T' in the
english word 'Tea'. These consonants are provided on english letters
q, Q, w, W, n.
5. Marathi has special meaningful signs provided to 'Jodakshar' in the
Marathi words, like 'Dny' in Dnyan (Knowledge), 'Dy' in Vidyapitha
(University), 'Ddh' in Shuddha (pure), 'Shr' in Shriman (Mister),
'Kshha' in Pakshhi (bird), 'Shcha' in Pashchim (West), 'Tr' in Mitra
(Friend). There are few more such signs but due to less keys are
available only above seven Jodakshar-signs could be accomodated.
6. There are many more features adopted by this font, like:
1] Un-completed consonat can be shown using a small stroke-line at the
bottom (Ex: word 'Adbhut' in Marathi),
2] Vowels in the Marathi words: Eesha (Name of God), Aai (mother),
Uday (rising), Uus (Sugarcane), Ak (One), Aik (listen).
