Hi,

after some weeks of silence I like to ask if someone else is willing to
finalize the 3.0 Release? I don't know if someone else has open PRs,
but I like to get #1529 in. So please review.

Any opinions on release date and doings etc. are welcome.

Thanks, Sascha.

Hi Sascha,

Apologies for not responding earlier, end-November is always terribly
busy.
I think we are mostly good to go. I'll try to go through #1529 tomorrow
and aim for a release on Sunday.

Best,
Apollon

Same here. Especially as Debian freeze approaches…

Thanks, I didn't manage to get to it (or any Ganeti work).

If done in the next weeks, then we can still get 3.0 final in next
stable :)

Hi Apollon and Iustin,

I'm glade to hear from you.

Thanks for taking a look through #1529. Releasing on Sunday sounds
great. If you have something to do for me, let me know, otherwise I'll
stay tuned for the usual version-bump/NEWS PR.

If we can not manage to solve issue #1440 (userdown broken) -> at least
I can't, it should be noticed in the NEWS.

Thanks, Sascha.

Hm, I should have asked what Sunday :-).

I can offer to merge and release on my own (without review). What do
you think?

Thanks, Sascha.

I was only two and a half weeks late :-)

We finally worked everything out, and I think it was good that we all
waited for review as there were small-ish issues to resolve in the PRs.

That said, I'm very happy 3.0 is out. Thanks and congrats to everyone, I
think it's a very high-quality release!

Btw, I created the stable-3.0 branch so that master can move on to
3.1. Let's try to release faster this time :-) I already added some
issues to the 3.1 milestone, I think we can start working on most of
them right away.

By the way, does anyone offer to send a release announcement for 3.0 to
the user mailing list?

Cheers,
Apollon

Consider it done.

Of course, review is a good thing. You already may have noticed, that with
my limited capabilities I'm depending deeply on a good review. So thanks
again for your guidance on this postcopy PR.

The fact, that I asked for merge without review was just some kind of
beacon signal I sent out, to see who is still on board. So hopefully
nobody felt coerced.

Thanks for the Release, Sascha.
