Dear Gammapy Community,

by now the situation with the COVID-19 pandemic worsened a lot and it starts to affect everyone’s daily personal and working life, both physically and mentally. In almost all countries there is now a general lockdown with closed schools and stores and the strong recommendation for working remotely from home if possible.

Our organisational structure is already prepared for remote collaboration via GitHub, Slack and Vibe meetings, however we (as coordination committee and lead developers, but also the Gammapy community as a whole) are fully aware and understand that some contributors have less time to work on Gammapy. On the other hand, while practising social distancing, our online community can provide support and a feeling of normality with positive interactions in these un-normal times.

For now we will continue our regular remote developer meetings on Fridays and don’t plan to postpone the v0.17 release. We understand that everyone will just contribute at what level they are able.
