Dear friends and colleagues,
I am excited to let you know that I am organising an online/hybrid lecture series on Asian games at the Max Planck Institute for the History of Science in Berlin:
The Ludic Languages of Asia: Sources and TerminologiesThe series brings together game scholars working with primary sources in a variety of Asian languages. It focuses on the relationship between games and language and demonstrates the need for a transcultural approach to the study of Asian games.
The series ties in with a cross-linguistic database of ludic terminology that I will be revealing more about at the upcoming BGS Colloquium in Chemnitz. It also prepares the ground for a workshop on the sources and terminologies of Asian games projected for the late summer/early fall in Berlin.
The first lecture takes place online on
Friday 14th February, 14:00-15:00 CET. Here
Amit Deshmukh will explore the prosperous landscape of games and gaming in medieval Marathi literature.
I look forward to seeing you for all the fun, games, and discussion!
Best regards,
Jacob
