Hi Ash,

Bio and gaming!

In case of interest: My current client, Cell to Singularity: Evolution Never Ends, has a hit biology game for the masses (10 m downloads, 6-fig DAUs). It’s an ongoing science documentary told one click at a time via video game mechanics (incremental game/clicker) and, since launch in 2018, they have created a series of science and humanities explorations and expansions. (I will be working as director/writer on a new epidemiology event in a couple weeks.)

Free to play on mobile/Steam, if you want to give it a look. (The HTML version is out of date at the moment.)

Hi, community!

My name's Ash, and I'd love to chat with anyone designing or developing
games for research.

I’m exploring the intersection of bio and gaming through my newsletter, The
Gameful Scientist <https://thegamefulscientist.substack.com/>, where I
publish weekly essays on exciting topics related to this area. For context,
I have a Ph.D. in Immunology, co-founded a biotech company in Canada, and
most recently worked at a VC firm in San Francisco. This exploration is a *personal
project* aimed at better understanding the intersection of bio and games to
reimagine how science is discovered and new technologies are created.

Super excited to be a part of this community. Feel free to reach out of if
this exploration resonates!

Best,

Ash

Hi Paul,

I just joined this group. I would love to learn about your creation engine.

For context, I have a Ph.D. in Immunology from the University of Toronto,
co-founded Notch Therapeutics, and most recently worked at Fifty Years, a
VC firm that supports founders using tech to solve some of the world's
biggest problems. I’m exploring the intersection of bio and gaming through
my newsletter, The Gameful Scientist
<https://thegamefulscientist.substack.com/>, where I publish weekly essays
on exciting topics related to this area. Game engines for scientific
discovery games are something that I've been interested in. What challenges
or projects are you hoping to solve with your creation engine? Up for a
chat?

Ash

Hi everyone,

After my first years in this industry as game designer, I'd love to find a
position in a company, or in a project, that tackles ethical issues,
especially climate change and environment conservation.

*TLDR: I want to do my beloved job while doing my part for the planet.*

The problem is to find it. Picking companies one by one, and hoping they
will be looking exactly for my specific position is far from practical.
Does anyone of you know a place to find ethical jobs in game dev industry?
An aggregator site, a group, a forum...

*TLDR2: do you know any site/group/whatever to look for ethical dev jobs*

Thanks to everyone for any information

Hi David,

Trusting that this finds you well.

I am quite interested in the opportunity you have posted. That of "Practical
Game Mechanics – Design and Development' as well as the
"Programming and Modeling for Game Development" I have extensive experience
in Teaching Game Design (2D & 3D Animation; and Modelling); and Game
Programming. Having taught Game Design at Wits University, additionally I
am currently training developers in a Games & Animation Accelerator in
Johannesburg, South Africa.

I wish to know from you, how can I be of service to your institution.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Kind regards
