Lately the only activity on this group has been spam (unfortunately).
I still think having a group like this is a good idea, even if the
activity is low, but I think we need to have someone moderate posts to
prevent spam posting.

I hereby volunteer to moderate as such, including going back and
kicking off previous spammers.

I tried to use the "email owner" function but it came back with an
error. Is there an owner?

Then again, do people even want this to continue as a separate list,
or are people just threading off the main g4c list? Or do people think
there is a need for more robust community web tools to facilitate
local activity while maintaining global communication?

Wouldst love to help.

Cheers,

I, too, am hoping this group can be kept alive. There was a great
gathering last year with some decent posts here shortly afterward,
then spam hell started. I was about the unsubscribe when I was your
posting, so I hope it kickstarts this group again. I saw someone
giving a talk at GDC that is part of G4C in NYC, and she said the
"chapter" in NYC is huge and thriving with lots of pretty big things
going on supported by big people (even in the gov't). So, I'm
surprised the Boston group for this seems to have died.

Jim,

Thanks for coming to the GDC talk! That was me.

Have you checked out our site? Gamesforchange.org? Have you become a member of the main listserv? There's a thriving community, thousands of people on it, and some good conversations. And lots of resources online.

And we're not exactly "a chapter" in NYC, we're HQ. There are regional G4C groups around the world now, working with us in the main office to coordinate efforts, share visibility, participate in events.

It was my understanding also that the Boston group was dormant or no longer meeting. But if you'd like to continue, we'd be glad to help. But the process is getting formalized, so someone from that office (Gene? Gary?) should contact us.

Looking forward to chatting.

Suzanne

Suzanne,

I just signed up on the main listserv, and I did check out the site
when I was trying to figure out what happened to the Boston group. Was
it Gary from FableVision that was running it? I think the G4C event
last year was where I had first met him, so that sounds about right.
I'm actually about to move from the Boston area to the Southern
California area, so do you know if there's a group in San DIego?

Again I just want to reiterate my interest in picking up the reins on
the Boston chapter. I would just like to have some kind of hand-off
from whoever is currently in charge of this list.

Wondering if people on the list are even seeing these messages, or if
everything is just going to spam folders...

Justin,

We are finalizing details of our various chapter agreements at the moment.  So hang in there just a little bit longer and we will get back to you.

Thanks!

Suzanne

Hi, Justin. I'm glad to see your enthusiasm for moving things
forward. Gary and I helped run the G4C Boston session at Northeastern
last summer. We were talking recently about getting the group going
again, so you've got great timing. Our region could definitely use
your energy. Maybe we should arrange a time to chat about what we'd
like to do (along with anyone else who's interested).

Best,
Dan

Justin,

Welcome! Folks are right, I am the creator of this group, but think
that due to lack of traffic I wasn't getting messages any more. I
would love to connect about ways to promote Games4Change in the Boston
area.

Let's get together and make something happen!

Gary

Would love to meet up sometime. I live in Watertown and generally bike
everywhere, so points east (Kendall, Central, Davis, etc.) are readily
accessible for me, and my schedule is fairly open right now (anytime
except during the day on Mondays and Wednesdays is fine).

Are you going to the PAX Party tomorrow at NERD? If so, perhaps we can
touch base then.
