Hi everyone,We're hosting Kai's talk on Hope to see you guys on Tues.When:21 April 2015Where:Building 11, Level 6, Room 408Title:Smart Glasses - An innovative healthcare technology for elderly and patientsAbstract:With advances in sensing technology, automatic recognition of human activities has become a popular research topic. Miniaturised wearable devices can now collect and process the data during activities of daily living. Such technologies rely on algorithms that can effectively combine and interpret wearable sensor data to identify different activities. In this talk I will present one of my recent work in healthcare technology-- the `Smart Glasses'. This device is able to recognise the subjects' activities of daily living (ADLs) using their first-person vision and motion data.Biography:Kai Zhan works as research fellow in User Modeling and Natural Language Group (UMNL) at Monash University. He received B.E. (1st class Hon) from University of New South Wales, and Ph.D (machine learning) from University of Sydney. He has been working on the machine learning algorithms and related technologies in the area of healthcare and elderly monitoring since 2010, and has been a chief investigator of healthcare project in St Vincent's Hospital. In the last two years, his work in healthcare technologies has been recognised and awarded by several organizations, include "NICTA Prize for the best research work", "Dean's Award for the project with Best Potential for Commercialisation" and Best Paper Nomination in PERCOM2014. His research interest is healthcare technologies for patients and elderly. His recent work has focused on decision-theoretic modelling of acceptance/trustworthiness/interactions between people and devices.regards,Chek--------------------------Dr Chek Tien TANSenior Lecturer,
