Join Sacha Coward in conversation with Vaneet Mehta to explore issues of LGBTQ+ representation in video games throughout history.
Queer characters in video games were almost non-existent until very recently, with the first queer characters starting to appear towards the mid to late 90’s. Since then, queer representation in the world of video games has grown, leading to the foundation of the LGBTQ Video Game Archive and the Queerness and Games conference, now going into its 6th year.
In this conversation we will explore the history of queer representation in video games, starting at the very beginning and working up to where we find ourselves today.
Sacha Coward is an escape room designer, a video game fanatic and a queer historian.
Vaneet Mehta is a analyst programmer at Gentrack UK, very interested in technology and an avid video gamer.
