International Games Day @ your library has now
expanded to become International
Games Week which will be
running from 29th October to 4th November.
Registration will open in June and is open to
libraries of all types.
The old International Games Day blog has gone and
now redirects to the much more user friendly new ALA Games website http://games.ala.org/
This new site will become a one stop shop for information on games and gaming in libraries.
I'm working on increasing visibility of IGW in the UK and also increasing the support and benefits for libraries who want to take part here.
Any suggestions of things that can be done to make this initiative more attractive to UK libraries would be welcome.
Also if anyone fancies joining the very informal UK IGW subcommittee (no specific time commitment required) let me know. I'm particularly interested in anyone in academic or specialist roles, our current team is very public library focussed.
I'm interested in what everyone has planned for International Games Week?
In Surrey we're running a few Minecraft sessions with added craft activities. We've also got a couple of board and table top events. Plus a talk about game design with Catherine Woolley from Media Molecule (Little Big Planet, Tearaway). Finally, I'm running a digital game making afternoon for adults using some of our fun makerspace kit, including Makey Makey, Ozobots & Little bits.
