to Xbox 360 Repair Guide
I've written this article is a quick resource for anyone that is
having problems with the Xbox 360 and the 3 red lights. The first
thing you have to ascertain is whether or not you really do have the 3
red lights problem.
This might not make any sense and you might have turned on your power
and just seen red lights flashing and freaked out a little, but
basically depending on the number of red lights flashing it can mean
that you have difference problems with your Xbox.
For instance, if you take a closer look at the power button way the
red lights are flashing and you see that it is flashing four red
lights then there really is no reason to panic as you should just
check your AV cable at the back and I am sure if you give it a firm
push then you will find that all that was wrong was it was not plugged
in properly!
So have another quick look at the red lights and make a note of how
many are flashing, and you will know that you have a problem if there
is 1 red light flashing, 2 red light flashing and of course 3 red
lights flashing.
Basically if you have any of these problems it does mean that some of
the components inside the Xbox have burnt out and you will need to
find a way to repair it.
Before you rush off to ring customer service, there is the three
things that you can try that might just save your Xbox and here they
are:
Firstly try unplugging all the leads and cables from the Xbox and also
disconnect the hard drive and then one by one of them all back in and
turn it back on again. Although this may seem a bit silly what it will
do is hard reset the Xbox and also clear the cache of the Xbox and you
may just find that it works when you turn it on.
Secondly if you have plugged your Xbox into an extension make sure
that you take it out of the extension and plug it straight into a wall
socket is sometimes the difference in power received to the console
can make a difference and it is worth giving this ago as sometimes it
can turn red lights to green.
Lastly, if the above two chips have not worked for you what you can do
is make sure the power brick that came with your Xbox is up off the
floor, you can do this by putting on top of an open box or something
similar as you may have noticed the powerbrick has tiny fans inside
and they also need to pump out air. Sometimes the red lights can come
on if the power brick has not got enough cooling.
If the above free tips have not worked and you still have the three
red lights or any other problem then you will need to either send it
back for repair the console yourself!
I hope you get your console working again soon!
