Hey Gamers' Alliance!
I've received several e-mails the past few days regarding Gamers'
Alliance events and membership. I'm sorry for not having more
updates, the semester has gotten off to a very hectic start and there
have been some unexpected hiccups in our planning.
First, I want to emphasize that Gamers' Alliance is a group with no
set procedures for membership. If you are on this list, if you attend
events, if you are in any way involved, you are a member. We do not
charge dues and we do not require your participation. We do this so
we can appeal to a wide variety of gamers without anyone feeling
forced to attend or plan events which do not interest them.
Second, we received word from Student Organizations last week that
funding for October events has run out. This has a huge impact on our
two events planned for the next month. Executive members are meeting
tomorrow to determine the best course of action and we will update you
when we arrive at a decision. However, you can expect for October
events to be delayed.
Third, during tomorrow's meeting we will also finalize the rest of our
schedule so we can apply for funding now and not hit the same snags
for the rest of our events. This schedule will include some casual
game-play nights in the Student Union. These events will all be
announced and are open to everyone!
Finally, as a member of this forum, you can write posts intended for
the whole group that (once moderated) will be sent out to everyone.
If you're looking for like-minded gamers, planning an event of your
own, or have interesting game-related news, feel free to use this
group to connect with the other GA members.
I promise you a final schedule by the end of this week, as well as
lots of opportunities to assist in the planning and organizing of our
biggest events (Global Game Jam, and 49ers vs. Zombies).
Game on!
