UPDATE: welcome to a new school year guys. (ill keep it short)
"gamers alliance" was originally operated by the members of the Game 2
Learn lab with Dr.Barns as their mentor. (more information of this can
be found here
http://www.game2learn.com/?page_id=5 ( it's a really
good read)). The members of the game lab would normally meet up once a
month for their trademark game nights that the entire school would be
invited to. As time went on power slowly shifted to me to be come the
new president of the recreational part of the club and not the
research aspect. with this "we" still got to use the resources of the
gamers alliance(equipment and rental space). Even though many new
members joined the club, the "direction" the club started to take was
extremely different from what Dr. Barns and the other original
members of the Game 2 Learn lab had in mind, which was to research,
play and learn.(read the link). this was also made abundantly clear on
the night of the Global Game Jam (
http://globalgamejam.org/jam)
(
http://globalgamejam.org/jam). After the Game Jam it was decided by
Dr. Barns, Katy Dorian and my self that these 2 parts of the club
split up with a new mentor (this was very pleasant mutual decision).
This way each part of the club can continue doing what it loves with
out over shadowing the other.
With that said we have decided to change the name of the club, get
a new mentor and a new president(because im going to japan)
WE HAVE UNTIL THE 9TH TO HAVE OUR INFORMATION TO BE COLLECTED.
we will still meet every Thursday or Friday
we will still supply our own gear when we are not renting.
and we will still host joined events with the original(Game 2 Learn)
Gamers Alliance which will result in epic parties.
we will try to collect money form the school for our events and we
will continue to encourage people to play many different types of
games in a fun and inviting environment.
so if your interested in being the president of the new Gamers
alliance(once we rename us) contact me at
wfra...@uncc.edu or
336 470 2029 before friday.
Thank you
Willie Frazier
