Harry,
Where are you studying? What is your academic focus? You can email off-list with details.
I just finished my MA in English, though my thesis was a bit eccentric for an MA.
The thesis focuses on five formal elements I identified through rather exhaustive research of current existing literature written by academics who pioneered (are pioneering) video game studies as a field of study. Most of the literature came from Europe, however--in the last few years--more and more US academics have been publishing articles on video games.
Keep in mind, however, my approach is most focused on the humanities (as opposed the hard sciences), though I do draw from psychology, computer science, UI design, interactive design.
If you (or anyone else) is interested in reading/discussing my research and writing, contact me at the address below:
chas...@uwec.edu
I will probably not respond from that address, but contact me there...I am willing to share my thesis with anyone willing to engage in discussion.
Additionally, if there are people in Twin Cities, MN area interested in meeting periodically to discuss game research/studies...I would be interested setting up a face2face meetup.
C
