Hi All,

Happy to inform you that, I was able to win at the "Rapid Fire Pitch Event" of Ohio Game Dev Expo 2014, last weekend. It was one of the personal video game ideas I had. There was a competition to present video game ideas to a panel of game industry professionals and they selected my idea as the "best video game idea" among the ideas presented at the rapid fire pitch event :-). Also they helped with many advices to improve my game design thought process. I have won awards for game development in Sri Lanka before this, but this is the first time I won a competition outside country.

About the expo: The OGDE (https://www.ohiogamedevexpo.com/ ) is the Midwest’s premiere game centered event. This time there were participants from 10 states of USA. There were speakers who have worked on games such as StarWars: Knights of the Old Republic, League of Legends, Bioshock 2, Sly Cooper 4: Thieves in Time, Super Meat Boy, among many more. Speaking sessions covered Programming, Game Design, Art, Music and Audio Design, 3D Animation, Voice Acting, Games Publishing, Project Management and Law in the Video Game Industry. And participants had opportunity to try many indie games.

Also there were workshops from Unity and Microsoft, including a one session which covered developing Virtual Reality games with Oculus Rift and Unity. Also there was an exciting presentation from an experienced game developer (a former Electronics Art developer), and he used a 3D game instead of slides to deliver the speech.

In overall, it was a great experience and there were so many opportunities for knowledge seekers.

Dear Ramesh,
Congradulations on your success. It's great to know that there are people who are interested in Gamedev who are accomplishing amazing stuff in Sri Lanka.
We are a group of gamedev enthusiasts who are looking for a partner with skills in programming to make the concepts that we have a reality. Would you be interested in working with us?

Thanks Shanuka!

It is great to hear that you are working on some game concepts.

At the moment I am bit busy with my workplace projects and will not be able to actively help these days :-(.

Anyway, I hope to see some amazing work from your team in future! Wish you all the best!

Ramesh
