Hi Everyone,
[forgive me for the English-language post!]
I'm hoping that the collective wisdom of the list can point me toward
a citation
for use in a dissertation chapter I'm currently writing on consort
playing.
Specifically, can anyone think of a historical reference to the
practice of
pushing the viol away from the body to access the lowest string with
the bow. An
English source would be best, but I'll take what I can get. I've re-
read Mace
and Simpson and didn't find any reference to this practice (though of
course I
might have missed it).
