Hello there,

I'm building a city model (started from one of the traffic tutorials and made some steps) and I want to implement means of transportation (cars, buses, taxis, bicycles, bikes) so that different people make means choices depending on a series of rules. I'm looking for examples so that I see how I could make this happen.

I've already checked the examples/tutorial models inside GAMA as well as some slides and models showcased in some previous events (uploaded on your google drive) but I wasn't able to find something quite close to my description. Maybe I missed something. Do you have any sources in mind?

Thank you so much

Hi,

I have no tutorials or example models close to your case-study.
However, the MIRO model seems close to what you want to do, but this model is very complex and I am not sure its source code is available (I added Nicolas that has participated to its development).

Cheers,

Patrick

Hi,

I think you are asking too many questions. You are asking for mode choice (what u call means choice); and you are asking destination choice. On top of that you use the term activity based modeling that already involves many more/other choices. If you are starting with a model, I propose you do one by one. The most difficult part you might have to do is the intermodal trip choices, as your agent would want to switch from one network to the other.

Lets see what Nicolas has to advice :) I am also keen.

regards,
Srirama

BTW, I am not sure if Patrick integrated MATSIM into GAMA. If yes, that might make your work easier !

Dear Patrick and Srirama thank you so much for you responses,

You're absolutely right, I should take this step by step. I do have a clear vision of what I want to do but I'm still a novice level programmer therefore any example would be more than helpful so that I actually bridge theory/ideas with code.
Looking forward to seeing some comments/thoughts.

Thanks again : )

Hi,

Here is something useful for you and probably also the limitation in GAMA (of shortest path) for not being suitable for intermodal trip assignments (people choosing multiple networks, people to switch from bus to a tram or a train and again to a bus or taxi to complete their trip) .

May be gama team has smart work arounds to get this done. That would be awesome and bring a lot of transport planners to GAMA :)

regards,
Srirama
