Hello all and welcome, new and old, the brave and the bold,
Just a quick recap, or possible introduction, for all our members; Galway Cycle 2012 video or www.galwaycycle.ie/photo, the fun we had celebrating our
silver anniversary.
And to start us off again, we'll need a charity and the charity chosen at the
AGM this year was The Jack and Jill Children’s Foundation, a very worthy charity providing
help and support to thousands of people in our community. The Jack and
Jill Children’s Foundation provide nursing hours for families with delayed
development or brain damage. All the funds raised by the Galway Cycle will go
towards helping families and sick children all over the country.
We’re creating a photo mosaic to commemorate
the past 25 years of the cycle. Anything you have is most welcome. If you
have photos anywhere from any years of the Galway Cycle please send them to pho...@galwaycycle.ie the older the better or contact
us if you have hard copies we could scan.
We have a few events coming up between now and Christmas, the first being our table quiz next Tuesday (November 13th at 8.30). Registration will open on the official Galway Cycle launch day – 5th December, but you’ll hear more about that in a few weeks.
UPCOMING EVENTS:
Table Quiz Tuesday 13/11 8.30pm Brady's Bar Test your knowledge
Official Galway Cycle Launch Wednesday 05/12 On Campus
Bake Sale/Campus Promotion Wednesday 12/12 On Campus
And of course, a wee spin to Galway, Friday 22nd March to Sunday 24th March, sure you may as well, the beds are booked.
Keep an eye on our facebook page
and website for details of any fundraisers
or bagpacks, remember, these are essential for covering the costs of the trip
to Galway so please support them. If you have any fundraising ideas or would
like to host an event please don't hesitate to contact us, like they say, we
won't "punch" a gift horse in the mouth.
Training
cycles for those who are new to cycling, or want to get a head start are
already underway. The
training cycles meet at 9am on Saturday and Sunday mornings at the South Campus
gates or keep an eye on our Facebook page for details of midweek cycles
which will start in the New Year. If you can make it down one of the days, now
is the time. Training before Christmas is specifically aimed at those who
don't have much experience of it. It's light, gentle and moderately paced.
