Mornin’ Mobsters!
The University of Texas Medical Branch has asked for an encore of the
Galveston Flash Mob to help launch and celebrate their new branding
logo! This event is open to the community and what better way to
involve the community than to call on all the fabulous Galveston
Mobsters!?! They sincerely hope that you can attend and enjoy the
celebration. There will be free UTMB t-shirts (with the new UTMB
logo), food and drink for all.
When: – Thursday, September 23
Time: – Please arrive around 12:30 PM; the dance will begin at
12:50-12:55 (no guessing this time)
Where: – Moody Library Plaza. The library faces Market Street between
10th and 11th. The plaza is located behind the library on the UTMB
Campus.
Parking: – Well, what can we say? This is Galveston and parking is
always a problem. Just please observe the signs listing parking
restrictions, especially in the adjoining neighborhoods.
To indicate whether you are willing, interested and available to
participate, please respond directly to me at
kittya...@gmail.com.
Shhhhh! We really want to try and keep this encore performance a
surprise for the other UTMB faculty, staff and guests who will be
attending. So, UTMB “Mobsters,” especially, please refrain from
communicating about this internally with your colleagues who may not
have participated on Sunday. Contact Trisha Wooten
tlwo...@UTMB.EDU
or Bob Scott
brs...@UTMB.EDU with any specific questions you may
have.
‘Brush-Up’ Practice sessions will be held on:
•Monday, September 20, Noon to 1:00PM, UTMB Field House Aerobics Room
•Wednesday, September 22, 5:30PM to 6:30PM, UTMB Field House Aerobics
Room
The dance and music will be exactly the same, so there will be nothing
new to learn as far as choreography is concerned. There will,
however, be some very minor changes designed to make the dance look
even more “spontaneous”:
• The introduction will not feature the children ballet/dance team
members (It’s a school day!). Instead, Bob Scott, Trisha Wooten and a
few other UTMB employees will be throwing t-shirts and beach balls
into the crowd and will begin the dance with the first set of Four-
Corners and Jive Steps. They will act as your dance captain/leaders,
with support from our Galveston Mob dance team leaders.
• If your last name begins with the letters A-H, please move quickly
to the center of the plaza and join the dance during the first Bus
Stops.
• If your last name begins with the letters I-P, please join into the
dance with the Beyonce Step.
• If your last name begins with the letters Q-Z, please join the dance
during the Dice Step.
• We will then ALL dance the following segments and FINALE together!
• UTMB Executive Leadership will get their groove on and join the
group for the finale only.
It is our sincere hope to see all of you together again and that you
will enjoy performing an encore! UTMB and the patient care, medical
education, research and local jobs they provide are a key component of
Galveston’s long-term economic recovery. So, let’s “dance up a storm”
once again and help celebrate UTMB’s progress, revitalization, and
moves forward in full recovery.
Best,
Kitty Allen
