Good morning, everyone!
I am excited to host a screening for my latest project, a short documentary funded by HumanitiesDC and DC Commission on the Arts and Humanities.
We have our premiere screening planned for this weekend.
Saturday, May 16
3:30 pm
A documentary film dedicated to the life and work of Brumsic Brandon, an influential African American artist and the creator of the beloved comic strip “Luther" is my project. Brandon’s legacy is often overlooked, but his impact on DC’s cultural landscape cannot be overstated. Through this documentary, we will bring his story to the forefront, shedding light on how his work both reflected and shaped the political and social movements of his time. The project will also highlight Brandon’s strong ties to the local community, including interviews with his family, peers, and artists who were influenced by his work.
Screening and Discussion with subjects and the crew will provide additional context to the story.
Thanks,
Carletta
