The project explores what love means to Black Washingtonians through the five tenets of Black Love Day which are • Love for the Creator • Love for Self • Love for Family • Love for Community • Love for the Black Diaspora
We are looking to interview approximately 25 people over our first two filming days. We especially encourage people to participate with their loved ones, children, parents, partners, or even neighbors. Interviews are casual conversations lasting 20–30 minutes. If helpful, a brief prep call can be scheduled beforehand. A signed media release is required.

FUNDRAISING PITCH
"Defining Love: Voices of Black D.C." is connected to the larger feature documentary, titled, "A Revolution Called Love," inspired by Black Love Day, founded by Sekou Mama Ayo Handy-Kendi through the African American Holiday Association. "Defining Love" is funded in part by HumanitiesDC, and the larger documentary has raised over $10,000 toward a $20,000 crowdfunding goal, with about $10,000 left to raise.
If you believe these stories deserve to be preserved and shared, we invite you to learn more, share the campaign, or make a tax-deductible contribution here:
