The water at Puka beach is nice and clear, but the waves are much stronger, and the slope is steeper. Swimming far from shore can be dangerous. The hotels have stationed a lifeguard at one of the cabanas on the beach.
It's a nice place to sit on a lounge chair, relax and enjoy the relative peace and quiet (compared to White beach).
The grandchildren used to enjoy going there in the morning and catch hermit crabs.
Attached are video clips to show how strong the waves are.
