Dear GalSim users,

We are pleased to announce the release of GalSim version 1.3.0.  You can get the tarball at
(or, you can install it via fink, homebrew, or the Macports files currently available on the master branch of the GalSim repository).

For a complete listing of the new functionality, (minor) API changes, bug fixes, etc. please look here:

Here’s a quick high-level summary of some of the main points:

- GalSim now requires functionality in TMV v0.72.  With GalSim version 1.2.0 we claimed to require TMV v0.72, but actually v0.71 still worked.  Now it won’t work any more.

- We officially deprecated some old methods/functions that we had been describing as removed or changed to a different name since v1.1 (but that still actually worked).  Now use of these methods will result in a warning message.

- There are new routines to represent certain detector defects.

- The chromatic functionality was extended and optimized in various ways.

- There is a new galsim.wfirst module that includes routines to make simulated WFIRST images.

- Most GalSim objects can be pickled, and they have useful str() and repr() representations.

Enjoy!

- Rachel (on behalf of the GalSim developers)
