We are pleased to announce that version 1.0 of GalSim is now officially released:
https://github.com/GalSim-developers/GalSim/releases/tag/v1.0.0
This is the version which is being used to make the Great3 simulation images, hence the major version number being upgraded to 1. We consider this a stable product now, not a beta version, as the previous 0.x versions were. So hopefully there will be fewer bugs in the code at this point.
As usual, if you do find a bug or if there is some feature you would like to request, please let us know by creating an issue on our
Issues Page.
In addition, we now have another way for you to get help. If you have a question of the "How do I do this?" variety, then we are now recommending that you ask the question at
Stack Overflow. If you tag your question with the 'galsim' tag, then some of the developers will be notified automatically about your question, and one of us (or maybe one of you!) will hopefully be able to answer it. As the user base of GalSim grows, we hope that StackOverflow will become a useful resource for people looking for tips and tricks about how to most effectively use the GalSim software.
Peace,
Mike Jarvis
