It has come to our attention that is now expected that JK, IKJ and KK
will all three return to teach classes at Gallaudet this January
2008. The best information we have is they are not yet on the class
schedule, so there remains some hope that the administration might
reconsider allowing them to teach. However, we fully expect that they
will be assigned to teach classes.
We have very serious concerns about these three people (who have
notorious track records) teaching courses at Gallaudet. We deem their
return to be highly improper and against the spirit of making
necessary changes to enable the campus climate to resume its normal
and healthy state. These three were the cause of the campus climate
problems, and therefore, should be removed.
The list of violations of academic integrity committed by these three
people is very long and is more than enough reason to revoke their
tenure to prevent them from doing further harm. The major violations
include:
1) Lying about their actions,
2) Putting the university at risk of tens of millions of dollars in
liability (especially in the case of IKJ),
And most serious of all:
3) Failure to fulfill the primary obligation of their duties, namely,
tending to the intellectual, physical and emotional well being of
Gallaudet students.
Would you take a class under them? Should they be allowed to teach?
Allowing them to teach is not in the best interest of the
institutional health of Gallaudet. Therefore, corrective action will
most likely be necessary.
We believe that there are effective options available for the campus
community to take, which will pose no risk to the re-accreditation
process, and we will share this at the appropriate time.
Please enjoy the upcoming homecoming celebration.
