MARKET FEATURED ARTIST: BETSY BUCKNER
ACRYLIC PAINTING DEMONSTRATION by Betsy Buckner Friday Feb.7 at noon.
HANCOCK, MI – Every month the Copper Country Community Arts Center features an artist in the Artists Market with a display of work and hosts a demonstration by the artist that is free and open to the public. “This program gives us the opportunity to showcase our local artists and gives community members an opportunity to meet artists and learn more about how art is made.” states Director, Cynthia Cote.
The featured
artist for February is Betsy Buckner. Betsy lives in Chassell and is inspired
by the wildlife and forest wonders of the region. She is known for her
expressive portraits of bears, foxes, otters, and other animals. Her approach
to painting is loose and free, with bold color and sweeping gestures that
contribute to the overall dynamism of her pieces. A display of her paintings will
be in the Artists Market through the end of the month.
Betsy will be on site at the Community Arts Center in Hancock demonstrating her painting techniques on Friday, February 7th starting at noon. Everyone is invited to come and meet her while she is working in the gallery. Coffee and cookies will be served. This program is supported in part by a grant from the Michigan Arts and Culture Council with funding from the National Endowment for the Arts. The Copper Country Community Arts Center’s Artists Market is located at 126 Quincy Street in Hancock. Hours are Tuesday through Friday 11-6pm and Saturday 10-2pm.
